So this is it, the big outro. The end of my nine month adventure in Montreal, in Canada, and at McGill. It’s been a grand journey and I’ve loved every minute of it.

It’s been a year of meeting new people and getting to know new places. Pride of place to my amazing roommates, McGill project team members, family and new friends from near and far.

It seems like the time has flown by and it was just yesterday I was moving into my room and new city. But looking back I feel I’ve made the most of my time and seen as much as I could of what this country has to offer. Roadtrips west to Toronto and Ottawa, east to Quebec City, the Maritimes and Halifax, and south all the way to North Carolina. In Montreal, we experienced all that downtown had to give, as well as the suburbs and countryside beyond.

As a school, McGill suited me well. Classes and profs were all good but the people I met during my studies were great. Late night projects fuelled by timbits or long hours down in the labs, it was a super place to study and I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved. Being able to do a design project for the Canadian Space Agency was pretty cool too.

Living in Quebec, I’ve seen a beautiful combination of the best parts of European and North American culture. I did no justice to French culture & cuisine with my language skills and big thanks to my linguistically superior friends for including me in (most) of their conversations. Montreal has been such a great city to live in, never short on entertainment, scenery or new areas to discover. Canada is a fine country, and I’m sure I won’t be able to stay away for too long.

It’s been amazing and I hope the friends I’ve made and memories we’ve shared will last a lifetime, no matter the distance. Until next time, je me souviens.

maritimes - 6am sunrise at the new brunswick / nova scotia border after a whole night of driving en route to halifax. one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. we passed this lake just before driving through a sea of fog 10km wide - spectaculaire.
